SECURITY operatives at the Murtala Muhammed Airport 2, Lagos yesterday detained an Italian woman, Lilian Abdulrahman for hours after she refused to let her luggage be screened in accordance with civil aviation rule protocol.
Abdulrahman, who is married to a Lebanese, was detained by officers of the Nigerian Police Force, Bi-Courtney Airport Security and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) officials.
The woman arrived Lagos on an Aero Contractors Airline flight from Abuja around mid-day Thursday.
It was gathered that upon arrival, she was alleged to have prevented the Bi-Courtney officials from screening her bags, which is against the standard aviation protocol at all airports across the world.
Abdulrahman was alleged to have insulted the officials before she dragged her luggage from the Arrival Wing to a waiting Honda car.
This prompted the aviation security to alert the Nigeria policemen attached to the airport who prevented the car from leaving the premises until the bags were subjected to screening.
This attracted a large crowd of people to the scene as they wondered what the bags could contain, despite the fact that they were exposing their lives to danger if those bags contained explosives.
