Why those accused of stealing govt funds are yet to be prosecuted – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has given reasons why those alleged to have stolen government funds in the past are yet to be prosecuted.

He said his administration must obey democratic principles as contained in the Nigerian constitution to prove them guilty in competent courts by presenting evidence to back up its allegation.

He assured that his administration was diligently building up its case against those accused of stealing government funds, getting necessary evidence and facts, before formal charges would be brought against them.

Speaking at an audience with a delegation from the Foursquare Gospel Church, at the Presidential Villa, President Buhari reaffirmed that his administration will give full regard to due process and the rule of law in the prosecution of its war against corruption.

He restated his commitment to recovering stolen funds, but stressed that the present administration’s efforts will be fully within the ambit of the law.

“Under military rule, people could be arrested and held on the basis of suspicion, but in a true democracy, anyone accused of an offense must be presumed innocent till pronounced guilty by a court of law,” the Buhari noted.

The President also congratulated the Foursquare Church in Nigeria on its 60th anniversary convention, which was concluded on Sunday.

In his remarks, the General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Reverend Felix Meduoye, lauded the Buhari administration for its positive strides in the war against corruption and the Jihadi insurgency.

He said that the church will continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria.

The appellants, among other grounds, averred “…that the learned justices erred in law in resolving against the appellants that the petition was incompetent on the grounds of non-compliance with the procedural rule in Paragraph 4 (3)(b) of the First Schedule to the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).

N3Million Transport Fare from Akpabio to Politicians Each After Every Meetings – Ex- Minister

A former Nigerian minister of FCT and senator from Akwa Ibom State, John Udoedehe, has narrated how the state’s immediate past governor, Godswill Akpabio, regularly doled out huge amounts of money as “transport” to politicians, each time they had a political meeting, according to Premium Times.

Udoedehe, said caucus members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were given at least N3 million each as “transport”, every night they met to discuss the party’s affairs.

The governor gave him a “special” sum, way more than the already outrageous N3 million others received, he admitted.

Senator Gods will Akpabio

“Godswill Akpabio used to give us at least N3million each as transport money every night we attended caucus meeting in Government House,” he said during an interview on Planet FM in Uyo on Saturday, November 7. “My own was special, it was more than N3million.”

The former minister said despite the largesse, he still fell out with Mr. Akpabio, who is now the senate minority leader.

He made the claim to buttress his argument that he could not be bought with money.

Mr. Akpabio could not be immediately reached for comments.

LIST: 8 Key Points Diezani Made in Her Interview With Dele Momodu

Dele Momodu on Friday released a part of his interview with Nigeria's former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Here are 8 key points Diezani made during the interview:

**Emir Sanusi broke her heart. Diezani considered former CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido as a friend, and he being the source of the missing $20bn allegation didn't sit well with her. She said the allegation was "more painful coming from someone I considered a good friend who should appreciate the gravity of such allegation.

**"Diezani said she is not the person most people portrayed her to be- "I’m certainly not a demon as being portrayed. I have no doubt that I served my nation well, the reason my colleagues at OPEC supported me despite the opposition from my own people," she said.

**Speaking about controversy surrounding her. “Controversy has nothing to do with your qualifications or performance. As a matter of fact, people often hate you for knowing so much and for being efficient and confident which they mistake for arrogance."

**She denied claims some $20bn oil revenue was missing under her watch and challenged anyone with hard facts to come forth. This claim infuriated her. " How can $20billion disappear just like that? Where did it disappear to? Is it possible that such an amount would not be traceable?

**Diezani said she doesn't own expensive houses and properties like people claim.
"I live with my husband in the same house we’ve lived since we married in 1999. Ask anyone who knows us. Our house in Abuja was bought in 2007 by my husband and as an architect and lover of interior décor I did it up to our own taste. It is not over the top because I have good taste and appreciate bargains.
I shop in regular shops like B & Q to do up all the places where I live.

**She claimed some of those who benefited the most were even in opposition and mentioned how a renowned opposition leader and vocal critic of the Government at the time met her on about three occasions to discuss his interests in the business of oil.

**Diezani also said she maintained a business-like relationship with ex president Goodluck Jonathan and other male associates she worked with. She denied claims that she has a sister or relative who has a kid for the former president.

**She added that her relationship with Dame Patience Jonathan wasn't stormy as people say but cordial, just like the one she has with Jonathan. “What people don’t know is that we’ve been family friends for long. My mum, Mrs Beatrice Agama, has always played the role of a godmother in the Niger Delta and all the militants love and respect her. I come from a royal privileged background and lacked nothing.”
