Zaria Killings: Nigerian Army Files Petition Against Shi'ite Muslims, Says Its Rights Were Violated

The Nigerian military has filed a petition against the Shiite Muslim sect before the national human rights commission on violation of their rights, AITonline reports.

The Islamic sect had clashed with members of the Nigerian army during the last weekend which left many dead. 

The petition follows the brazen attack on the Chief of Army Staff and his entourage by members of the Shiite sect under the leadership of Ibrahim Yaqoub Elzak zakky in Zaria.

Major General Adamu Abubakar who represented the chief of army staff says their rights have been grossly violated by the people of Zazzau.

The Executive Secretary of the commission professor Bem angwe assured them of proper investigation.

The army also promised to forward a detailed investigation on the matter.
