NIGERIA and other countries may soon have a borderless relationship, which could further foster economic growth among African nations.
The Vice President, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Dr. Toga McIntosh said that the regional body is closer to completing its “Borderless Africa” project, which would allow legitimate movement of goods and persons from one country within the region to the other without any restrictions.
McIntosh, who spoke at this year’s Management Day of the Nigerian Institute of Management on Thursday said the move was part of ECOWAS efforts to foster a long-term economic integration policy across the sub-region, with a view to addressing the ravaging pangs of poverty and insecurity that lead to mass exodus to Europe and America.
He said one of the challenges delaying the completion of the project, was the insistence on the adoption of the right measure to ensure proper screening and prevention of rebels across the borders.
